The Navy needs a sole-source contract for exhaust shielding on five Ship Service Diesel Generators. The required heat shields are not available in the standard stock system. The current shielding has degraded heat resistance capabilities and entrained oil, which constitutes a significant fire hazard. The Government has a need to procure exahaust shielding for five (5) Ship Service Diesel Generators (SSDGs) which are Caterpillar Hawthorne specific.
