The U.S. Coast Guard needs a small business to manufacture handheld radios for its operations.

Key Details

  • What exactly do they need? The Coast Guard needs a handheld radio that meets the requirements for packaging, packing, marking, and bar-coding. The radio must be a UHF, handheld package, IAW MIL-STD-2073-1E, MARK IAW SP-PP&M-001. The Coast Guard will reject any items that do not meet these requirements.
  • What's the contract structure and timeline? The Coast Guard intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract on an all or none basis to a responsible offeror whose offer conforms to the solicitation. The contract will be awarded using simplified acquisition procedures.
  • How will they pick the winner? The Coast Guard will evaluate offers based on the lowest price technically acceptable.
  • When and how do you bid? Quotations are due on July 15th, 2026, at 10:00 am Eastern Standard Time. Offerors must submit their quotations through SAM.gov.

Who can apply

  • Must be a certified small business

Heads up — easy to miss

  • The Coast Guard requires standard commercial packaging to be unacceptable. If you cannot meet the Coast Guard's packaging requirements, your quote will not be accepted.

If you're interested, do this first

  • Check that your small business certification is still active in SAM.gov.
  • Write a 1-page summary of similar work you've done before.
