The U.S. Army needs a small business to design and install a microgrid system for a Reserve Center in Mountain View, California.

- What exactly do they need? The Army needs a microgrid system that provides energy resilience for 14+ days for mission critical functions. The system will incorporate a ground-mounted 750kW photovoltaic (PV) solar system, a 750kWh battery energy storage system (BESS), an 800kW diesel backup generation system, and a 10,000-gallon fuel storage tank. The microgrid system will also include a master microgrid controller and automatic smart switches controlling the generation resources within the Reserve Center.
- What's the contract structure and timeline? This is a firm-fixed-price contract with an estimated cost range of $10,000,000 to $25,000,000. The contract will be awarded after appropriated funds are made available.
- How will they pick the winner? The evaluation will be based on the best-value tradeoff between price and technical merit. The Army will evaluate proposals based on the offeror's experience with renewable energy systems and microgrid design, as well as their ability to meet the technical requirements of the project.
- When and how do you bid? Proposals must be submitted electronically through the PIEE website by June 29, 2026, at 12:00PM PDT. Plans and specs will not be provided in hard copy or CD format.
