The US Coast Guard needs a sole-source contract for storage and winterization of a 47' Motor Life Boat.

Key Details

The US Coast Guard needs a sole-source contract for storage and winterization of a 47' Motor Life Boat, asset 47251, pending final disposition. The vessel is currently located at the Birdon NE facility, having been moved there for a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) evaluation that revealed extensive hull damage. Due to the vessel's compromised condition, it cannot be safely trailered. Relocating the asset would necessitate a hazardous tow operation on the Connecticut River, incurring significant operational risk and additional costs with no commensurate benefit. Continued storage at the current location is the most practical and cost-effective course of action, preserving flexibility for future repair or program decisions while minimizing unnecessary movement and expense.
